Welcome to the TrackIT family! This guide will walk you through the simple steps to get your new head tracker set up and ready for total immersion.

1. Unboxing

Inside your package, you will find your TrackIT Pro head tracker clip and a set of cable ties for mounting.

2. Mounting the Clip

The TrackIT Pro is designed to attach to the band of most standard gaming headsets. Position the clip on the left or right side of your headset, whichever is more comfortable. Use the included cable ties to securely fasten the clip's mount to the headset band. Ensure it is snug and does not wobble.

3. The Camera: Your Tracker's Eye

Your TrackIT clip works by emitting infrared (IR) light. To see this light, you need a camera that has had its internal IR filter removed. While you can modify a webcam yourself, the community standard and our strong recommendation is the PlayStation 3 Eye camera.

The PS3 Eye is the perfect camera for head tracking because it's affordable and supports a very high frame rate (up to 120 FPS), which results in incredibly smooth and responsive tracking.

Important: A standard, unmodified PS3 Eye camera will not work. The small infrared filter inside must be removed. We sell pre-modified cameras that are ready to use straight out of the box.

Position your camera on top of your monitor, ideally in the centre, so it has a clear and direct view of the tracker on your headset.

4. Software Setup

Before plugging everything in, make sure you have your chosen tracking software installed. We recommend OpenTrack, which is a powerful, free, and highly configurable open-source solution. You will also need to install the correct drivers for your PS3 Eye camera to allow it to work with your PC.

5. Plug In & Calibrate

Plug both the camera's and the TrackIT clip's USB-A connectors into any available USB ports on your PC. The infrared LEDs on the clip will illuminate (though you will not see them with the naked eye). Launch OpenTrack and you should see the virtual representation of the tracker moving in real-time as you move your head.

You are now ready to configure the tracking curves in your software (we have a blog post for this!) and start gaming!
